HCA Georgia, part of one of the nation’s largest for‑profit hospital systems, has been seeking contract changes for its Memorial Health facilities that would further increase health care costs for patients in the Savannah area. In negotiations like these, large hospital systems often seek higher reimbursement, even when their prices are already above market norms. Our responsibility is to draw a line where those increases become unsustainable for the people and employers who ultimately pay the bill. Because an agreement was not reached by the contract deadline, Memorial Health facilities are now out of network for certain Cigna plans, though we remain engaged in negotiations. Members were notified in advance, and our focus is on helping them understand their options and continue getting the care they need at other in‑network hospitals and providers in the area.

Cigna said individual and family plans are not impacted.
Customers received advance notice of the change
Cigna said customers received advance notice so they could understand their coverage options ahead of the effective date.
“Continuity of care provisions are designed to help minimize disruption for patients actively receiving treatment, with the goal of supporting patients rather than placing them in the middle of negotiations. Eligible patients may continue care during a defined transition period, supported by care coordination, case management, and 24/7 customer support,” shared Cigna.
Cigna said while the contract has expired, discussions may continue, and both parties can still reach a future agreement.
