Memorial Children’s Hospital turns five
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Despite opening during the middle of Covid Savannah’s freestanding children’s hospital is celebrating five years of caring for our smallest patients.
Memorial health’s Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital is celebrating its 5th birthday.
Wednesday they’re “flying high” with kite crafts, cupcakes, and smiles throughout the hospital.
While kids decorated their own kites, staff celebrated alongside them.
Hospital leaders also marked the milestone with a short program highlighting what they say are some of their biggest accomplishments since opening during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have cared for a quarter million children right here in this facility. we’ve done 200,000 visits through our emergency department,” said Heather Newsome, children’s hospital admin.
Newsome adds that they’re looking ahead to even more growth and expanded pediatric care in the years to come.
