Mary Snowden selected to fill vacant District 2 Savannah-Chatham school board seat
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah- Chatham County school board has a new face in one of its seats.
The board voted Tuesday to appoint Mary Snowden to fill the vacant District 2 seat.
The seat opened up after longtime board member Dr. Dionne Hoskins- Brown announced her run for school board president.
Under Georgia law, she was required to give up her seat to make that bid.
Dr. Hoskins- Brown had represented District 2 for 14 years.
Snowden’s appointment is temporary — she’ll hold the seat until voters decide who they want in the role this November.
“I am very proud of the responses — you all are very qualified for this position, but at the end of the day, the public will have the opportunity to select the person they want to represent their district,” said Dr. Tonia Howard-Hall, District 8 Board Member.
Before Snowden’s appointment Dr. Hoskins- Brown represented District 2 for 14 years.
