Marine sergeant found dead at Parris Island Recruit Depot
PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - A Marine Corps sergeant was found dead Thursday at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
Sgt. Cameron Thach, 26, was an Operational Contract Support Specialist assigned to the Regional Contracting Office, Headquarters and Service Battalion, according to Marine Corps officials.
The cause of Thach’s death is under investigation. Marine Corps officials said out of respect to the Marine’s family, no additional details will be released at this time.
Thach was born in Elmore, Alabama, and began service in June 2017. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, two Good Conduct Medals and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
