Mandatory evacuation for portions of Brantley & Wayne County due to wildfires

BRANTLEY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Portions of Wayne County are also being affected. There is a mandatory evacuation between the Brantley County line at Wire Road to Post Road, to Ten Mile Road and all areas in between.

Please be advised that this situation has been declared a disaster. All units and resources are now operating from the Incident Command Center.

Please pay close attention to all alerts and messages. If you are not currently in an evacuation area, remain prepared to evacuate if necessary.

We are unable to respond directly to Facebook messages at this time, as personnel are at the command center and on scene.

Wayne County Emergency Management

Portions of Brantley County is under a mandatory evacuation due to the wildfire.

In a post on the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office page Saturday afternoon, a mandatory evacuation is in effect for Browntown Road from Highway 82 to Highway 32.

Officials are urging people in the area to leave immediately.

The evacuation order was issued previously, but some residents may still be in the area.

Officals say conditions remain unsafe, and strongly urge everyone in this area to evacuate as soon as possible.
