Man sentenced to 25 years behind bars after fentanyl, meth seizure

RIDGELAND, S.C. (WTOC) - A Ridgeland man will spend a quarter century behind bars after investigators discovered a large quantity of an illicit drug in his home.

Jan Louis Ortiz-Rolon, 26, pleaded guilty as indicted Thursday in Jasper County General Sessions Court to trafficking meth.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

“The volume of drugs recovered in this case posed a serious threat to public safety,” the prosecuting attorney said. “This guilty plea reflects the strength of the evidence and our office’s commitment to removing dangerous substances from our streets.”

Detectives with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team began investigating Ortiz-Rolon after receiving information from social media indicating he was selling illegal drugs and weapons from his home on Midway Circle.

Back in March of 2025, detectives conducted surveillance at the residence and watched Ortiz-Rolon arrive in a gray Audi and go inside. A short time later, he left the home in the same vehicle.

Deputies then conducted a traffic stop, during which officers found multiple fentanyl pills in Ortiz-Rolon’s possession.

Based on the surveillance and the evidence recovered during the traffic stop, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence.

While executing the warrant, investigators found digital scales, ammunition, AK-style magazines and more than 537 grams of meth.

Circuit Court Judge Marvin Dukes handed down the sentence.
