Man arrested in connection with stabbing of 16-year-old in Burton

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a stabbing that occurred Monday in Burton, according to a press release WTOC just received.

At approximately 12:57 p.m. on December 1, 2025, deputies responded to the area of Noye Wiggins Dr., for a reported stabbing.

Officials say that upon arrival, deputies located a 16-year-old female suffering from stab wounds. The male suspect, identified as 18-year-old, Angel Avila-Castro along with several witnesses, remained on scene.

The investigation revealed that a domestic altercation occurred between family members at their residence. At some point during the incident, the BCSO says Avila-Castro retrieved a utility knife and stabbed the victim.

Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded, and the victim was transported for medical treatment of her injuries.

Avila-Castro was arrested on the charge of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime. He was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
