Leopold’s Ice Cream nominated among nation’s best ice cream shops
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Leopold’s Ice Cream nominated for USA TODAY’s Best Ice Cream Shop in America
Leopold’s Ice Cream is once again in the national spotlight after earning a nomination for USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Ice Cream Shop in America.
The iconic Savannah ice cream parlor, located on Broughton Street, has served handmade ice cream since 1919 and remains one of the city’s most recognized destinations. Known for its super-premium ice cream, classic soda fountain atmosphere and long lines stretching down the block, Leopold’s has become a staple for both locals and tourists visiting the Hostess City.
“This nomination is truly an honor for our entire Leopold’s family and for the city of Savannah,” owner Stratton Leopold said in a statement. “For generations, this community has supported us, shared memories with us, and made Leopold’s part of their lives. We’re grateful and excited to represent Savannah on a national stage.”
Fans can vote for Leopold’s once per day throughout the contest period. Voting runs through June 8.
Founded in 1919 by Greek immigrant brothers George, Peter and Basil Leopold, the shop continues to use many of the same traditions and recipes that helped turn the business into a Savannah landmark more than a century ago.
