LUDOWICI, Ga. (WTOC) - A large brush fire is burning in Long County, according to the Long County Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency.

Officials say crews are responding in the area of Boyd Wright Road, Frazier Harris Road, and Lewis Scott Road.

At this time, no structures are in danger.

The agency says Georgia Forestry has two dozers on scene working to establish a fire break around the perimeter. Crews from Long State Prison and Smith State Prison are also assisting with firefighting efforts.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the area so emergency crews can work safely.

They also reminded residents that a burn ban is in place.
