LIST: Local school closures, remote learning scheduled Monday due to weather conditions
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Weather conditions are causing some schools in the area to be closed or move to remote learning on Monday, Feb 2nd.
Here’s what we know so far:
BULLOCH COUNTY: Schools will be closed Monday due to weather conditions.
According to officials from Bulloch County Schools, due to weather conditions and the latest information available from public safety, all of Bulloch County Schools’ offices and schools will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2.
Officials say the school district will make further updates on Monday about Tuesday’s schedule.
BEAUFORT COUNTY: Beaufort County schools will have an eLearning and remote workday Monday, Feb 2nd. Officials say district buildings will be closed, and all extracurricular activities are cancelled for Monday.
Beaufort County School officials say an update will be provided by Monday afternoon if there are any anticipated changes for school on Tuesday. Otherwise, school operations will take place as usual.
BRYAN COUNTY: Bryan County schools WILL BE OPEN and operate on a normal schedule Monday, Feb 2nd.
Officials say the safety of students and staff remains their top priority. District and school leaders have been coordinating with the National Weather Service and Bryan County Emergency Management to assure safety.
CHATHAM COUNTY: Lifespring Christian Academy will be closed on Monday, Feb 2.
LIBERTY COUNTY: Liberty County Schools will have At-Home Virtual Instruction Day on Monday, Feb 2nd, due to potential black ice and hazardous road conditions due to overnight freezing.
Officials say students should continue learning from home using their district-issued digital device or a student learning packet provided by their teacher(s).
Staff will not report to work and should follow guidance from their school administrators regarding expectations and support for virtual instruction.
All sports and school-related activities have been cancelled for Monday.
EFFINGHAM COUNTY: Schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 2.
Effingham County School District officials say while many main roads may be clear, some roads, especially those with heavy tree cover, could remain iced and unsafe for travel.
Officials say the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. They anticipate normal school operations will resume on Tuesday, February 3, and we will share an update by 3 p.m. Monday about Tuesday’s schedule.
EMANUEL COUNTY: Emanuel County Schools will be closed on Monday due to ongoing weather impacts.
Officials say they anticipate schools will be open on Tuesday.
If any changes are needed to Tuesday’s schedule, an update will be posted between 2:30–3:00 p.m. on Monday.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY: Georgia Southern University is moving to remote operations and virtual learning for all campuses on Monday, Feb. 2.
Georgia Southern will resume normal operations and class schedules on all campuses on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
HAMPTON COUNTY: Hampton County Schools will have an E-Learning day for staff and students. All scheduled athletic events and extracurriculars are postponed.
JASPER COUNTY: Jasper County School District will operate on an eLearning schedule on Monday, February 2, 2026.
A decision regarding school operations for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, will be announced on Monday as conditions are further evaluated.
LONG COUNTY: Long County Schools will opedrate as normal Monday.
SCCPSS: Due to concerns with a continued black ice hazard on area roads Monday morning, Savannah-Chatham County Public School officials have made the decision to move to remote learning for Monday. Families can find remote learning guidance on SCCPSS.com.
All student activities and athletic events on Monday are canceled.
School officials expect schools and facilities to reopen on regular schedules on Tuesday, February 3rd. Please note that this decision does not include Charter Schools. Our families who have children in Charter Schools should receive guidance on school operations directly from their school.
SAVANNAH LEGACY ACADEMY: Classes are canceled for Monday due to potential road hazards.
SAVANNAH STATE UNIVERSITY: Savannah State University will operate remotely Monday, Feb. 2. All classes will be held virtually, and all campus events and activities are canceled.
SCREVEN COUNTY: Due to icy roads and the threat of unsafe driving conditions, the Screven County School System will be closed for students and staff on Monday, February 2. We will post an update concerning plans for Tuesday before 5 pm tomorrow.
URBAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY: Both the school and daycare are closed Monday.
Only essential personnel should report in person.
School officials anticipate returning to normal campus operations on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 8 a.m.
