LIST: Candidates who have qualified to run for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s seat in Congress
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s 14th congressional district is drawing the interest of several challengers aspiring to become Capitol Hill’s newest elected representative.
Greene announced she was resigning from Congress back in November. Her seat — which she had held since 2021 — officially became vacant on Jan. 5, 2026.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has set a March 10, 2026, special election date. The race’s crowded field will likely result in a runoff on April 8, 2026.
Here are the candidates who have put down the $5,220 qualifying fee so far:

Democrat
Republican
Georgia’s nationally watched 2026 primary is May 19, 2026, meaning whoever wins the upcoming special election — and likely runoff — may choose to run again in the primaries and, if victorious, run in November’s general election.
Greene said on Nov. 21, 2025, that she was resigning over her disillusionment with the nation’s current political climate, stemming from a recent political split with President Donald Trump.
Georgia’s 14th congressional district stretches from the Chattanooga, Tennessee, metropolitan area in an east-south arc toward metro Atlanta’s outlying suburbs.

While mostly white, the district has notable Hispanic populations concentrated around Dalton, with its carpet-industry workforce. Its economy centers on manufacturing, particularly Dalton’s carpet and rug industry, agriculture and small businesses.
The Cook Partisan Voting Index rates the district solidly Republican, as does Ballotpedia. Historically Republican, it was represented by Tom Graves before his retirement in 2020.
