Jesup Police investigating assault that left woman with injuries initially mistaken for vehicle crash
JESUP, Ga. (WTOC) - Jesup Police are investigating a suspected assault that left a woman in critical condition.
Early Friday at 12:28 a.m., Jesup Police responded to a call of a person on the road near Highway 27 and Georgia Highway 169. They found a woman, identified as Ma’Kiyah Jackson.
Initially, officers thought Jackson had been hit by a vehicle. However, an initial investigation indicates an assault took place.
Jackson suffered significant head trauma and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
There are no suspects in custody. Jesup Police say investigators are working leads and processing evidence from the scene.
