JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Due to multiple courthouse employees testing positive for COVID-19, the Jasper County Courthouse will close for the remainder of the week as a precaution.

The closure applies only to the Jasper County Courthouse. All other Jasper County government offices and services will continue operating during normal business hours.

County officials made the decision after consulting with court administration, judges and the county administrator to prioritize the health and safety of staff and the public.

Jasper County Public Works will disinfect the courthouse during the closure. Officials said they understand the inconvenience the closure may cause but emphasized that public safety remains the top priority.

The courthouse is expected to reopen Monday, May 11, pending health assessments and safety confirmations.

County officials thanked the public for its patience and understanding.
