I-95 on-ramp to close for two weekends
RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTOC) - The next two weekends will see a major traffic shift on I-95 near US 17.
According to GDOT, as part of the bridge maintenance project, L. C. Whitford Co., Inc., will close I-95 Exit 87 northbound on-ramp from US 17 for the next two weekends beginning on Friday, September 26, as part of the overall project’s maintenance staging plans.
I-95 Exit 87 northbound entrance ramp complete weekend closures with detour in place are scheduled from:
- 9 p.m. Friday, September 26, until 5 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2025
- 9 p.m. Friday, October 3, until 5 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025
If weather delays occur, these closures will be pushed back a weekend until work is completed.
Traffic will be detoured via US 17, SR 144 and I-95 Exit 90 on-ramp.
Ramp closures are required for edge bridge beam work to be completed.
Motorists are reminded that I-95 at Exit 87 is a WORK ZONE and are advised to reduce speed and exercise extreme caution travelling through this area.
Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes.
Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes, GDOT says.
Use caution when driving and pay attention to ongoing work conditions while in the area.
