Hwy 21 in Rincon to experience lane closures for Forensic Mapping after fatal crash
RINCON, Ga. (WTOC) - On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will temporarily shut down a portion of Highway 21 in Rincon, GA.
These intermittent lane closures will take place on Highway 21 and 4th street in Rincon at 9:30 a.m.
This is due to the ECSO Traffic Unit conducting a Forensic Mapping of the fatal crash that took place on October 8, 2025.
WTOC previously reported that, according to an ECSO spokesperson, “preliminary information indicates a vehicle was attempting to turn left from 4th Street to travel south on Highway 21 when it was struck by a pickup truck that was traveling North on Highway 21.”
The driver of the vehicle died at the scene, while the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office says the intermittent lane closures on October 20 should last between 1 hour to 2 hours.
