Hurricane Melissa regains some strength after moving through Bahamas
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Hurricane Melissa remain a Category Two storm as it pulls away from the Bahamas this morning.

Melissa will maintain its strength today as it passes to the east of Bermuda this evening. Bermuda could experience tropical-storm force wind as Melissa passes by.
By this weekend, Melissa could impact Newfoundland with gusts over 70 miles per hour.
Hurricane Melissa made its second landfall Wednesday morning in Eastern Cuba as a Category Three Hurricane.
Just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Melissa made landfall as a powerful Category 5 storm with max sustained wind at 185 miles per hour and a pressure of 892 mb.

Tuesday morning, the minimum central pressure for this storm dropped to 892 MB, making it the third strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic basin based on pressure.

Melissa’s landfall makes it the Atlantic basin’s first landfalling Category 5 Hurricane since Dorian on September 1, 2019.
We are not expecting impacts in the United States.
