Hunting Island Lighthouse reopens May 26 with ceremony, public tours
ST. HELENA ISLAND, Sc. (WTOC) - One of South Carolina’s most iconic coastal landmarks is set to welcome visitors back.
The Hunting Island Lighthouse will officially reopen on Tuesday, May 26, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. at Hunting Island State Park on St. Helena Island.
Local and state officials, park representatives, community members, and visitors are expected to attend the celebration, which marks the lighthouse’s return after being closed for renovations since 2022.
Following the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to tour the historic lighthouse and take in the scenic views of Hunting Island.
Park leaders say the reopening highlights the importance of preserving the lighthouse while continuing to provide a memorable experience for visitors along the South Carolina coast.
