How to dispose of your scrap tires for free, all week long
VIDALIA, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Vidalia and Toombs County, in cooperation with the Georgia Environment Protection Division (EPD), is hosting a Scrap Tire Amnesty Week from Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, 2025.
Residents of Toombs County and its municipalities may dispose of their qualifying scrap tires for free all week long at the Toombs County Landfill, specifically at the address below between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Tombs County Landfill Entrance
- GA Hwy 15, next to Georgia Forestry in Lyons, GA
Accepted tires include passenger car and light truck tires, as well as non-commercial semi-tractor trailer tires. No rims will be accepted.
Tires that do not qualify for free disposal include heavy equipment or skidder tires, as well as tires from retail dealers or commercial sources (e.g., farmers, loggers).
The City of Vidalia and Toombs County say strict enforcement of these rules will be applied.
No tires will be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on September 26.
Regular tire disposal fees will resume on September 27, 2025.
Scrap Tire Amnesty Week is funded through the Georgia Solid Waste Trust Fund, supported by a $1 fee on new tire purchases in Georgia.
