Hospice Savannah opens registration for Camp Aloha grief camp for children

by Shakuria Smith

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Registration is now open for Camp Aloha, an annual grief camp for children and teens hosted by Hospice Savannah.

The camp will take place May 1–3 at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center in Rincon for children ages 6 to 17 who have lost a loved one within the past two years.

Participants will take part in therapeutic activities and traditional camp experiences, including group discussions, expressive arts and outdoor recreation, guided by trained bereavement counselors and volunteers.

“Camp Aloha gives children permission to grieve in their own way while surrounded by others who understand,” said Terri Collins, vice president of business development and strategy for Hospice Savannah.

The program is offered through Hospice Savannah’s Full Circle Grief and Loss Center, which provides bereavement services throughout the region.

A registration fee applies, but scholarships are available. More information is available here.
