Historic downtown Savannah building gets new life as Ameris Bank opens new branch

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Ameris Bank officially opened its new downtown Savannah branch Thursday in the historic Standard Oil Building on Drayton Street.

The new branch, located at 120 Drayton Street, replaces the bank’s previous downtown location at 24 Drayton Street and will offer retail, business, commercial and mortgage lending services.

Bank leaders said the more than 8,700-square-foot space was designed to preserve the historic character of the area while providing expanded customer accessibility and convenience.

The branch includes a drive-up ATM, drive-up night drop, two drive-through lanes, safety deposit boxes and a city-designated passenger loading space for quick transactions.

Ameris Bank President Lawton Bassett said the new location reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Savannah and its residents.

During the grand opening celebration, Ameris Bank also presented Habitat for Humanity of the Coastal Empire with a $10,000 donation as part of its community investment efforts.
