Hinesville Police investigating fatal pedestrian hit-and-run
HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - The Hinesville Police Department is investigating a fatal early morning crash involving a pedestrian.
Police say according to witness statements, 52-year-old Hughey Hoak was crossing Highway 196, in the area of Frozen Paradise around 1 a.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a dark-colored truck or SUV that left the scene after impact. The vehicle was later located abandoned and has been secured as evidence.
The Hinesville Police Department’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit is investigating this case. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Hinesville Police Department at (912) 368-8211.
