Hilton Head caregiver honored as hospital’s first ‘Guardian Angel’

HILTON HEAD, Sc. (WTOC) - A Lowcountry caregiver is being recognized for going above and beyond for her patients.

Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center recently honored its first “Guardian Angel” award recipient, recognizing certified nursing assistant KeiKei Manker for her compassion and dedication to patient care.

Manker works on the hospital’s progressive care unit and was nominated for the way she brings comfort, kindness, and attentiveness to patients during their recovery.

The Guardian Angel program, created by the Novant Health Foundation, allows patients, families, and colleagues to recognize team members who make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

This first recognition was made possible through a special gift from the foundation’s chief philanthropy officer, Nancy McInroy. She made the contribution in memory of a close friend who received care at the hospital and developed a strong connection with Manker.

McInroy shared that her friend was deeply grateful for the care she received, especially highlighting Manker’s kindness and attention following her procedure. Her friend later passed away.

Hospital leaders say the Guardian Angel program will continue to honor caregivers who reflect the compassion and service at the heart of their mission.
