Handgun safety class to be held by Appling County Sheriff’s Office
BAXLEY, Ga. (WTOC) - A two-part handgun safety class is coming at the end of September 2025, and there is only one week left to sign up.
The event, hosted by Sheriff Mark Melton and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, will include classroom instruction and hands-on range shooting.
It is open to anyone 16 years of age or older, but anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.
Attendees will be informed about firearm safety, carry laws, and the proper skills necessary to be safe with a firearm.
The first handgun safety class session will take place on September 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Appling County Sheriff’s Office Training Room.
The second session will take place on September 27, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the City of Baxley Range next to the airport.
Interested parties must attend the classroom session in order to participate at the range.
Handguns will be provided for the range session. No firearms are to be brought to the classroom portion.
