Hampton Co. man arrested after investigation into suspected animal fighting, narcotics distribution
HAMPTON COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A Hampton County man was arrested and charged following an extensive investigation involving allegations of animal cruelty, narcotics trafficking and possession of stolen property.
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 29-year-old Justin Golden.
Last week, deputies executed search warrants at two separate locations associated with Golden.
Law enforcement said they found multiple dogs believed to have been owned for the purpose of animal fighting or baiting at both properties.
Investigators say they found animals in inadequate conditions, without consistent access to clean food or water and lacked protection from extreme weather. Living areas also showed evidence of continuous tethering, said the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies also seized narcotics, weapons, ammunition and stolen goods during the search.
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office said several items found on the premises, including a vehicle were confirmed stolen.
After the investigation, Golden was arrested and charged with animal fighting or baiting act penalty, 20 counts of ill treatment of animals in general (torture), amongst other charges, including multiple drug trafficking charges.
This operation was made through the joint efforts of multiple agencies.
