Gainesville woman charged with attempted murder for attacking man with meat cleaver, deputies say
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman for attempting to murder a man with a meat cleaver.
According to the arrest report for Dasani Johnson, 23, the attack happened at Park Lane Apartments on Southwest 58th Lane near Gainesville on Sunday.
Deputies say Johnson was angry with the victim for staying out late with his brother. She grabbed a meat cleaver from the kitchen and swung it at him multiple times, cutting him deeply.
The victim ran into a closet where he kept his handgun. Johnson followed him and continued to attempt to attack him.
The victim says he fired the gun to scare Johnson. He then shoved her, causing her to fall and hit her head.
“If anyone is in a situation like that, take a break, separate from each other, and go to different people,” said Lisa Sacaccio, a sheriff’s office spokesperson. “There’s many resources out there. And if for any reason if you feel like there is a situation that will amount to violence, please do not do that, contact us, that’s why we’re here.”
