GBI arrests four individuals in 2020 homicide investigation
VIDALIA, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, worked with the Vidalia Police Department, to arrest four people in connection with a 2020 homicide in Vidalia.
According to the GBI, the shooting happened Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the Circle K gas station at 101 North Street East in Vidalia, in Toombs County. The victim, Treyvious Moliere Jean Baptiste, 29, of Fort Pierce, Florida, died as a result.
Following an investigation, the GBI announced the following arrests and charges:
- Wendell Simpson, 38, of Vidalia, is charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. The GBI said Simpson was arrested July 16, 2025.
- Lynn Cherry, 40, of Collins, is charged with party to the crime of malice murder and felony murder. The GBI said Cherry was arrested July 18, 2025.
- Marqese Stokes, 31, of Fort Pierce, Florida, is charged with party to the crime of malice murder and felony murder. The GBI said Stokes was arrested Aug. 12, 2025.
- Albert Jones Jr., 36, of Fort Pierce, Florida, is charged with party to the crime of malice murder and felony murder. The GBI said Jones is in custody of the Florida Department of Corrections.

Once the investigation is complete, the GBI said the case file will be given to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
