SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As the 2026 Georgia governor’s race heats up, Democratic candidate and current state Senator Jason Esteves visited a local business to learn about challenges facing the small business community.

He spoke with the chef and owner of Tab Bistro, a wing restaurant near Memorial Hospital.

Esteves and his wife own several small businesses themselves, including an urgent care clinic and restaurants.

Esteves says he wants to see the type of investment currently made in companies like Hyundai, extended to smaller businesses that are owned by Georgians.

“I’m going to be pouring into and showing the same kind of support to our mom-and-pop shops across the state, and I think that’s the lesson here, is to trust in our local entrepreneurs and small business owners. It can be both. It doesn’t have to be either/or,” said Senator Esteves.

Esteves is one of seven democrats running for governor.

Six republicans are running, as well.
