Friends, neighbors remember Bloomingdale mother killed early Easter morning

BLOOMINGDALE, Ga. (WTOC) - Investigators returned to a Bloomingdale neighborhood Wednesday as they work to determine who killed a 39-year-old mother over the weekend.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Bloomingdale police were called to a home in the 300 block of Cypress Street just after midnight April 5 for a woman who had been shot.

When police arrived, they found Paige Lewis dead.

Friends and neighbors said Lewis was an incredible friend and mother

“You would have never thought that it would have been her, like just never would have thought that,” said Danielle Anderson, a friend.

Neighbor Keanna Gross said she heard something the night of the shooting but did not think much of it at the time.

“Later in the night, when I heard some yelling and then I heard some gunshots, but they were muffled and they were, felt like they were close by,” Gross said. “I didn’t think anything of it.”

Anderson was with Lewis just hours before the shooting.

“10:30, 11 o’clock we come over, wasn’t here maybe an hour. We go home, go to bed, my husband wakes me up and he’s like, you got to get up, something happened at Paige’s house, run down there, hurry up,” Anderson said. “And when I got out the bed, I come down here and saw all the cops and the ambulances.”

Next-door neighbor Linda Sims said police have continued to return to the house since Easter.

“It’s been several days now, they’ve been at it every day, looking through the yard and asking if we’ve seen or heard anything,” Sims said.

Sims said Lewis was a good neighbor.

“She’s very nice, a very nice young woman, had a young son and just, you know, real neighborly,” Sims said.

Anderson said Lewis was a caring person.

“She was a fun, outgoing, loving mother, she was a very good friend, she was caring,” Anderson said.

Services for Lewis will be held Monday, April 13 beginning at 10 a.m. at Thomas Strickland and Sons Funeral Home’s West Chatham Chapel.
