Free Savannah fraud prevention workshop offered as Chatham County scam losses topped $3 million in 2025, $850,000 already in 2026

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Islands Family YMCA and Bank of America are inviting the community to a free workshop focused on fraud and scam prevention.

The “Better Money Habits: Fraud and Scam Prevention” session will take place Wednesday, May 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Islands Family YMCA on Johnny Mercer Boulevard in Savannah.

Organizers say the public event is designed to help individuals recognize common scams and better protect their personal and financial information as fraud attempts continue to rise.

Attendees will learn how to identify warning signs of scams, recognize fraud red flags in real time and take proactive steps to prevent identity theft and financial loss.

The session is free and open to the public.
