Forsyth Park fountain return date unknown, City of Savannah to give update Tuesday

by Summer Swanson, WTOC Staff

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Despite other reports that the fountain will be returning to Forsyth Park this month, the city said this information is inaccurate.

Robinson Iron, an iron works facility restoring the fountain’s metalwork, told us the fountain will return to its spot in Forsyth on September 16th, ahead of schedule. We reached out to city officials who told us the mayor is expected to address this Tuesday at his weekly press briefing, WTOC will be at the event.

WTOC crews went over to Forsyth Park Monday and saw maintenance teams at the site.

According to workers on the site, they are currently sanding, painting, and sealing the fountain’s pool. Monday, workers told us that the fountain is not expected to completed until November.

The fountain was removed earlier this year for restoration.
