Former law enforcement officer charged with misconduct in office
HAMPTON COUNTY, SC. (WTOC) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged 28-year-old Brandy Alexis Robinson with misconduct in office on Tuesday.
The arrest warrant says between May of 2021 and December 2022 Robinson, who was an officer with the Town of Hampton’s Police Department, failed to faithfully discharge the duties of her role.
The warrant details Robinson allegedly did so by lying in open court about probable cause in relation to a simple possession of marijuana case.
WTOC reached out to the Town of Hampton’s Police Department who told Robinson was not currently their employee.
We then reached out to the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office who said Robinson was working for them most recently but resigned as a deputy on Monday, one day before being charged.
The sheriff’s office clarified at the time of the alleged misconduct, Robinson was an employee at the Town of Hampton’s Police Department.
The former officer was booked into the Hampton County Detention Center.
This case will be prosecuted by the Public Integrity Unit, a collaboration between the 14th and 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Offices.
