Former Bulloch County Chairman, Roy Thompson, has died
BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A staple in the Bulloch County community has passed away.
According to a post from the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners, former Bulloch County Chairman, Roy Thompson, has died.
Affectionally known as “Mr. Roy,” Thompson served as a county commissioner then chairman for decades. Prior to elected office, Thompson served on the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Thompson, along with his late wife Deborah who passed away in July 2025, and their family operated Statesboro Floor Covering and used it to help lead the business community.
For decades, the Thompson’s turned their TMT Farms into a Christmas showcase to share the holiday season and collect food, toys, and donations to benefit those less fortunate.
In addition, he served on the Recreation Department board and volunteered as a youth sports coach for decades.
Officials say flags in the county will be flown at half-staff in his memory.
Funeral arrangements will be shared once they are announced.
