Flags at City of Statesboro facilities lowered to half-staff honoring former Bulloch County Commission Chairman

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar ordered flags at City of Statesboro facilities to be lowered to half-staff this week in honor of former Bulloch County Commission Chairman Roy Thompson.

“Mr. Thompson was a man who truly loved this community. Through his leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others, he helped improve the lives of countless families across Bulloch County. Whether it was supporting local youth sports, providing food for families in need, or simply lending a helping hand wherever needed, Roy served our community with both heart and purpose,” wrote Mayor McCollar in a social media post. “As we lower the flags in his honor, we also lift up our prayers for his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Bulloch County has lost a true servant of the people and a man whose legacy of generosity and community spirit will never be forgotten.”
