First Alert Weather Tropical Forecast: Tracking Tropical Depression 9 and Humberto
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm 9.
PTC 9 is officially Tropical Depression 9. The forecast track shows TD 9 becoming Hurricane Imelda off the GA-SC coast by Tuesday. Latest trends bring storm close to coast Tuesday but turn it sharply to the east Wednesday. pic.twitter.com/djuzWPdAdK

This allows the National Hurricane Center to start issuing advisories and a forecast track. The forecast track is not set in stone and changes are possible because not all computer models agree on a track.
Many computer models are now trending towards the storm stalling just off the southeast coast and then taking a right turn out to sea. As you can see some computer models still have this system making a SC/GA landfall. pic.twitter.com/hsCGM0iz5E

TD 9 is forecast to become a Imelda and strengthen into a hurricane near our coastline on Tuesday. Still a lot of uncertainty about the storm, but it is slowing down and perhaps will meander along the Georgia-South Carolina coast through Wednesday which would increase some of our viewing area’s rainfall totals especially in the Lowcountry.
Hurricane Humberto is moving slowly but rapidly intensifying. Humberto is forecast to become a cat 5 hurricane but remain well east of us.
Humberto still a powerful cat 4 hurricane with winds of 145mph. Thankfully the forecast track keeps well east of us. pic.twitter.com/fZQjkSwDLG

BOTTOM LINE: A landfall along the South Carolina-Georgia coast is looking less likely BUT not impossible. Now that we have a true center of circulation the computer can ingest that into their forecast. We should have much better agreement in the models tonight so make sure to get daily updates.
