Fire in Hinesville displaces several families
HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - A fire Friday afternoon has displaced multiple families in Hinesville, according to the Coastal News Service.
Mohammad Bryant, Training Chief of the Hinesville Fire Department, says units were dispatched to a fire on the 100 block of Gause Street shortly after 1 p.m.
Bryant said firefighters found Unit 6 of a multi-dwelling apartment row fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.
Firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze, preventing damage to the surrounding units. The fire is reported to have started from a grease fire.
The American Red Cross is currently assisting at least eight residents who were forced to leave their homes due to smoke and water damage, as well as the lack of electricity.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
