Fatal crash in Screven County leaves 19-year-old woman dead

by WTOC Staff

ROCKY FORD, Ga. (WTOC) - A fatal crash occurred near Rocky Ford this morning (February 2, 2026) in Screven County, according to the Screven County Sheriff.

Officials tell WTOC ice likely contributed to the crash, which resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman.

The Screven County Sheriff said this was one of multiple accidents after the winter storm that came through our area, saying that on the same morning another accident occurred where a vehicle driven by a pregnant woman slid off into a ditch.

“Icy conditions have made many roads across the city and county EXTREMELY ICY,” the Screven County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post on February 1. “Travel is extremely dangerous, and even experienced drivers cannot maintain control with no traction.”
