SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The family of a man shot and killed in Savannah nearly a month ago is making a direct plea to the public as the suspect remains at large.

David Stewart, 38, was shot multiple times just before 1 a.m. on March 1 along Echols Avenue, according to Savannah Police. Investigators identified 26-year-old Maalik Frazier as the suspect, wanted for felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Family members said Stewart was walking with his brother, heading out for the night, when a simple accident led to the shooting.

According to his brother Dominique Mutcherson, Stewart tapped the car next to him with his door while parking. Moments later, before he ever reached the entrance, he was dead.

“To not even get into the building yet…like in the parking lot and just get murdered because a tap on the door, I think that the world is coming to an end,” said Kitty, Stewart’s sister.

Mutcherson said the family is grieving a brother, father and son.

“You gotta love, you gotta love your family, man. Cause you never know when you’re gonna leave this world,” Mutcherson said.

He urged anyone who knows where Frazier is to contact police.

“So you see this person, call the police, you ain’t doing nothing wrong. We have kids. Save another person’s life,” Mutcherson said.

Kitty said the loss still doesn’t feel real.

“Loved him.. to life… that’s what we did. We loved him to life,” she said.

Police said Frazier is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should not approach him.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020, or submit an anonymous tip through the Savannah Police Department’s mobile app.
