Events starting on Friday night impacting travel plans throughout Savannah, Lowcountry

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - There are parades, festivals, vendors, and people’s pets being showcased across Savannah and into the Lowcountry, so travelers should anticipate slowing down with several streets being closed or congested.

The Savannah State University Homecoming Parade starts at 9 a.m. (Oct. 25)

  • The parade starts on East Broad Street at Liberty Street, going north to Broughton St., then west to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, then south to West Gwinnett St. near Forsyth Park. It officially disbands on May St. and Anderson Street.
  • Around 13,000 people are expected to be on campus and attending the parade this weekend.

The SCAD Film Fest runs continually from Oct. 25 at 8 a.m. to November 1 at various Savannah College of Art and Design locations (Oct. 25)

  • Gutstein Gallery at 201 East Broughton St.
  • Trustees Theatre at 216 East Broughton St.
  • Lucas Theatre For The Arts at 32 Abercorn St.
  • SCAD Museum of Art at 601 Turner Blvd.
SCAD Film Fest runs continually from Oct. 25 at 8 a.m. to November 1

The Pride Festival 2025 starts at 10 a.m. in Forsyth Park (Oct. 25)

  • Set up is expected to start as early as 7 a.m. in the park and is expected to end at 11 p.m.
  • Public parking is available near the park and throughout downtown
  • Park Ave. and Collins Quarter’s Parking Lots will be closed

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Daffin Park and Bluffton, South Carolina (Oct. 25)

  • Daffin Park’s opening ceremony starts at 9 a.m.
  • Bluffton (The Promenade at 1 Promenade St.) has its opening ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m.

Wag-O-Ween starts at 12 p.m. in Pulaski Square (Oct. 25)

  • Set up is expected to start as early as 10 a.m.
  • Organizers said to expect heavy pedestrian (and pet) traffic from Victory St. to River St.
  • They have five permits for vendors at several squares
    • Chippewa, Ellis, Orleans, Pulaski, and Telfair

The South Georgia Fair started on Oct. 23 and runs to Nov. 2 on Fort Argyle Road (Oct. 25)

  • Parking is available on the fairgrounds
  • Drivers will be directed by security to the closest parking spot

“The Great Trunk or Treat” at Memorial Park starts at 4 p.m. (Oct. 25)

  • Free event through the YMCA of Coastal GA - Tybee Island Branch
  • Inflatables, face painting, costume contest, food trucks, and more

Truck-or-Treat at Grayson Stadium from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Oct. 24)

  • Food trucks, a haunted house, face painting, a live DJ, and a costume contest

Howl-o-Ween at Daffin Park from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Oct. 24)

  • Local pet vendors, adoption agencies, and a pet costume contest
