EMT worker arrested for driving under the influence while on duty

by Stephanie Adkisson

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - WTOC is getting answers about an EMT charged with driving under the influence while on the job.

Records show Carson McCluskey, a registered EMT was arrested earlier this month.

The CEO of Chatham County Emergency Services Chuck Kearns says the driver was suspended immediately and then fired the next day.

A police report shows that on October 12, Carson Mcclusky was operating a county owned ambulance while responding to a scene.

Once he arrived two other responding officers took notice of McCluskey’s blood shot, watery eyes and said he also smelled strongly of alcohol.

The report reads the Sgt. asked if he would blow into the preliminary breath test device just to determine if he was safe to drive, which he refused.

Mccluskey was then arrested after refusing two separate sobriety tests.

Arrest records also show that Mccluskey had previously been charged with DUI back in 2009.

Chatham Emergency Services sent us a statement about this saying that a supervisor immediately responded and that McCluskey’s actions violated the zero tolerance policy.
