Dr. Dionne Hoskins-Brown announces run for school board president

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham County school board member Dr. Dionne Hoskins-Brown has officially announced her bid for school board president.

Dr. Hoskins-Brown has served the Savannah Chatham County Schools as the district 2 representative for 14 years and chaired the Board Accountability Committee for more than a decade.

“Now, more than ever, a quality education is the pathway to a high quality of life and personal independence,” she said. “I want to lead the district in its service to Chatham County students – those learners whose talents are emerging, as well as those who are experiencing high achievement.”

Dr. Hoskins-Brown attended Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools from 4th to 12th grade. She is a Beach High School graduate.

Dr. Brown earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from what was then Savannah State College, and a Doctorate in Marine Sciences from the University of South Carolina.

“So many of us have benefitted from the legacy of quality education in Savannah,” Dr. Hoskins-Brown said. “I want to give more, do more, to make sure that our children receive the very best we have to offer.”

Surrounded by volunteers, supporters, friends, and family, Dr. Hoskins-Brown announced her candidacy Modat morning from the Forsyth Park band shell.
