Dave Turley’s First Alert Weather forecast for Wednesday, January 21, 2026

by Dave Turley, Jamie Ertle

High pressure is in control of our weather. Lots of clouds with milder temps overnight. More clouds Thursday morning then a little more sun late. Highs warm into the mid to upper 60s. Friday will see lots of clouds with a slight rain chance and warmer temps near 70. Another cold front moves through late Friday. This will bring in colder air for the weekend. There is a lot of uncertainty in the weekend forecast. Low pressure will impact the area and bring a good chance for rain. Our forecast depends on the exact track of the low. The GFS and ECMWF differ greatly on their forecast. ECMWF low is further north meaning warmer temps and all rain for everyone. The GFS is further south meaning colder temps and a chance for freezing rain. Sunday is a First Alert WX Day as there is a possibility that rain may change to freezing rain early Sunday morning. The best chance for freezing rain will be north of Statesboro and Hampton. Sunday afternoon should be wet but okay for travel as temps will warm into the mid to upper 40s. Temps drop below freezing again Sunday night so icy roads will be a concern. Monday is also a First Alert WX Day. Precipitation will continue over night Sunday until daybreak Monday. Inland freezing rain/black ice is the concern early Monday. Cold high pressure builds in with dry weather Tuesday and Wednesday.
