SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Memorial Health is hosting a free STOP THE BLEED class this month to help community members learn life-saving emergency response skills.

The class is part of National STOP THE BLEED Month, a nationwide campaign focused on teaching people how to stabilize severe bleeding victims during emergencies.

Health officials say more than 30,000 lives could be saved each year through effective bleeding control before emergency crews arrive.

The training is open to the public for ages 13 and older and will take place Thursday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Memorial Medical Office Building on Waters Avenue beside the Children’s Hospital of Savannah.

Organizers encourage participants to register in advance through Memorial Health’s website. To register click here.
