Coroner identifies pedestrian hit and killed on busy highway in Greenville
GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified a pedestrian who was hit by a car early Monday morning.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said a 2011 Ford Escape was traveling south on Wade Hampton Boulevard near Reid School Road when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway.
According to officials, multiple 911 calls came in around 6:30 a.m. reporting the crash. Upon arrival, first responders found the pedestrian dead on the scene at 6:38 a.m. The driver of the 2011 Ford Escape was not injured.
The coroner identified the pedestrian as 70-year-old Melvin Joseph Levesque.
This is an active investigation by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
