Coolest Halloween in over a decade

by Jamie Ertle

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - For the past three years, Halloween has been unseasonably warm with afternoon highs 83/82/83 degrees. In 2019, we record heat, hitting 90°, the hottest Halloween in Savannah ever. That makes for sweaty Trick-Or-Treaters.

This year, we’re tracking a “reinforcing” cold front Thursday bringing highs on Friday, October 31st to only be about 68°!

The average high for Halloween is 75°, so upper 60s will be a real treat.

The temperature at 5/5:30pm when the candy starts flowing will about 65° and dropping fairly quickly by 6:34pm sunset.

We have not had highs in the upper 60s on Halloween since 2012.

So, for once, if you or your child have a furry, or full costume, enjoy without being miserably hot underneath!

The cold front is “reinforcing” the cool air already in place for the first half of the week. It’s also acting as a steering mechanism for Tropical Storm Melissa. It’ll sweep it out to sea, keeping it away from the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
