Cold Weather Comes Back This Week! Sunday Evening Weather Forecast

by Dylan Smith

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A strong cold front will move across the area throughout the next several hours, bringing in gusty winds and some widely scattered rain chances.

During this time, we are under a marginal risk for severe weather. That means that any storm that forms could become strong to severe with damaging wind gusts, hail, and heavy rainfall as the primary threats.

Right now, it still looks like the highest chance to see this will be in our southern and coastal areas during this time.

By midnight, we’ll look for temperatures to cool into the upper 50s to lower 60s with only a few shower chances by midnight.

Throughout the overnight and tomorrow, we’ll continue to track breezy conditions gusting between 25 to 30 MPH.

Be sure to use extra caution on the roads throughout tomorrow, as you will likely be able to feel some of these while driving.

Meanwhile, we should see starting temps in the upper 30s to mid 40s across the area.

Since it’ll be breezy throughout tomorrow, these temps will actually feel like they are in the lower to mid 30s for most areas. Be sure to bundle up as you walk out the door tomorrow morning.

We’ll track sunny skies throughout the day as high temps warm in the mid to lower 50s across the area.

Then, much colder air moves back in as temps cool into the mid 30s by midnight tomorrow night.

First Alert Weather Days

Tuesday and Wednesday are both First Alert Weather Days due to the likelihood of our first widespread frost/freeze of the season!

We already have a Freeze Warning for everywhere north of the Altamaha River, and a Freeze Watch in place for anywhere south of the river from 9PM tomorrow night until 9AM Tuesday morning.

What to do during a freeze warning

Be sure to bring inside any sensitive plants and possibly consider wrapping unprotected outdoor plumbing as we track mid to upper 20s around many inland areas, with near or at freezing temps closer to the coast.

Also, consider bringing inside any pets. If it is too cold outside for you, it’s definitely too cold for them. For any animals you cannot bring indoors, just make sure to give them extra food and a place to at least get out of the elements.

Savannah’s Veterans Day parade weather

Veterans Day wind chills will likely be in the lower 20s to teens at daybreak. Be sure to be ready and bundled up if you plan on attending the parade.

Temperatures will be in the 40s as the parade starts in Savannah, followed by high temperatures in the 50s with sunshine.

Wednesday morning won’t be quiet as cold, but lows will still be in the 30s west of I-95.

Warmer weather gradually builds in as the week progresses until we are back in the mid to upper 70s going into next weekend.

Tropical weather latest

The tropics will likely remain quiet over the next week as the season continues to wind down. Hurricane season ends at the end of the month!
