City of Savannah announces summer camps, sports and youth programs through 100 Days of Summer
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Savannah is preparing to launch its annual “100 Days of Summer” initiative with a free kickoff event at Daffin Park later this month.
The City of Savannah, in partnership with E-93 FM, will kick off its 100 Days of Summer programming Friday, May 22, with a free pool party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Daffin Park Pool featuring music, food, drinks, games, and giveaways for families and children.
The City of Savannah says its 100 Days of Summer initiative offers safe and engaging opportunities for local youth through camps, sports leagues, career programs, violence intervention initiatives, arts enrichment, and family events hosted by Community Services, the Savannah Police Department, and the Savannah Fire Department.
The Savannah Fire Department and Savannah Police Department will host several summer programs and community events, including Camp Hero, Fire Station 16’s open house, National Gun Violence Awareness Day activities, youth police camps, and the annual SPD Back-2-School Bash providing school supplies to local students.
The city will also operate five public pools across Savannah this summer, offering recreational swimming, swim lessons, and swim teams, with pools open Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Traditional and specialty summer camps, including flag football, e-sports, cheer, cooking, and art programs, will run May 26 through July 17 at community centers across Savannah, while free summer lunches for youth will be offered at several city parks during the same period.
