Christ Church Episcopal formally installs new rector
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Christ Church Episcopal in downtown Savannah formally installed Reverend Dr. Andrew M. Harmon, also known as Father Drew, as its 42nd Rector on Tuesday.
Father Drew joins the congregation from St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge.
Founded in 1733, Christ Church Episcopal is the oldest church in Georgia and is known as the “Mother Church of Georgia.” Its past leaders include notable figures such as John Wesley and George Whitefield.
The Service of New Ministry and Holy Eucharist was presided over by the Right Reverend Frank Logue, with the Reverend Seth Dietrich of Christ Church, Whitefish Bay, WI, serving as preacher.
The service included performances by the youth choristers and parish choir.
A reception followed the installation service and the public was invited to welcome Father Drew and his family into the Christ Church community.
