Child found safe after reported abduction in Richmond Hill traced to rideshare driver error

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTOC) - A reported child abduction in Richmond Hill Thursday was determined to be a mistake by a rideshare driver, and the child was found and reunited with family, police said.

On Thursday, the Richmond Hill Police Department received a call regarding a potential child abduction.

Officers immediately launched an investigation and began searching for the child, who was found and reunited with family.

RHPD’s investigation found that the incident caused by a mistake from a rideshare driver, and was not an abduction.

“We are grateful for the quick actions of our officers and thankful that the situation was resolved safely,“ the department said in a social media post. ”The Richmond Hill Police Department remains committed to responding quickly and thoroughly to any call involving the safety of our community”
