Chatham County police host trunk-or-treat Halloween event

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - As the Halloween festivities come to a close this weekend, here’s a recap of a spooky event with Chatham County police Halloween night.

They hosted “Trunk-or-Treat” Friday night, where kids were able to dress up and fill their bags with candy and other Halloween themed goodies. Along with Chatham County police, Chatham County fire, EMS, and the tax commissioner’s office joined in on the fun to create a safe environment for families to create Halloween memories.

“The main point is so folks can feel they’re in a safe place to bring their children, get some candy, and they get to dress up in their costumes and things of that nature,” said Chatham County Police Chief Jeffrey Hadley. “It’s also a way for the children and their families to relate to public safety, whether it be the fire department, the police department, other facets of public safety, build relationships. It’s just an exchange of goodwill, and we really enjoy it.”

The event was free and open to the public.
