Chatham County Tax Commissioner receives Presidential Award from Savannah NAACP

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County Tax Commissioner Sonya L. Jackson was honored with the Presidential Award by the Savannah NAACP at the organization’s 2025 Gala held on October 12, 2025.

The Presidential Award recognizes individuals whose leadership and service strengthen the community through integrity, innovation, and impact.

Commissioner Jackson was recognized for her commitment to public education, exceptional customer service, and operational excellence within one of Chatham County’s most vital government offices.

Since taking office, Commissioner Jackson has led initiatives that make tax services more accessible and efficient while expanding community outreach and engagement.

Through programs such as Tax Commissioner University, she continues to empower residents with the knowledge and confidence to better navigate local government services.

Her focus on improving efficiency and customer service has helped strengthen community trust and enhance the overall experience for taxpayers, according to a press release sent to WTOC.
